American Sign Language Teacher PT Part-time - FTE .60, 10-month Reports to: Vice Principal of Curriculum and Instruction Classification: Exempt Pay Range: $46,000-65,000 (depending on experience) Supervises: None

Position Summary

Presentation High School in San Jose, California, is seeking a part-time ASL instructor to join the Modern Language Department for the 2026-2027 school year. Currently, we offer American Sign Language 1 & 2 through virtual, partially synchronous instruction. In 2026-2027, we plan to transition to in-person instruction for ASL 1, 2, and 3.

We are looking for an experienced, innovative teacher who is eager to build this program with us.

Duties

and Specific Responsibilities Model for students the Catholic mission and values of Presentation High School Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students. Devise a system of classroom order and discipline that contributes to the learning of all students. Create meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive teaching. Utilize provided lesson plans to deliver dynamic and engaging lessons and assignments using Universal Design for Learning and other engaging pedagogical strategies. Model a spirit of innovation, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Be available to students who need assistance. Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues. Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology.

Requirements

Education & Experience B.A. degree Single-subject teaching credential or Master's Degree in the subject area, preferred Relevant teaching experience, preferably 5 or more years at the high school level Experience teaching neurodiverse students and familiarity with Universal Design for Learning is a plus Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Total resonance with the mission, vision, and values of Presentation High School and the Catholic education tradition including a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
