  • Description: The adjunct faculty instructor is a professional with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for Southeast Arkansas College radiology technology students on a semester basis. Adjunct faculty reports to the department director to perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the college. The relationship to the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. The adjunct faculty should have a sound knowledge of teaching Radiographic Physics, Digital Imaging, Principles of Exposure and Image Production, and Imaging Equipment. The adjunct teaches the assigned classes of students according to the overall goals and objectives of the department, advancing the students’ knowledge of the subject matter. Faulty contributes to the evaluation and revision of the curriculum incorporating evidence-based learning activities directed at meeting established learning outcomes. The faculty monitors and evaluates student performance based on established grading guidelines. Faculty performs other duties as assigned. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Functions

  • Contributes to the overall achievement of the college’s mission and goals through effective instruction and classroom management. Plans and prepares for assigned instructional and clinical courses. Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy. Develops instructional outcomes and appropriate evaluation and assessment methods of student learning. Creates and maintains an environment of rapport and respect. Clearly establishes expectations for learning and achievement. Maintains up to date accurate records on attendance and student progress. Meets with current and prospective students for review and provide an accurate interpretation of college placement scores. Make referrals to college resources available to provide services or assistance to students. Provides input into budgeting and decision-making processes. Engages in the college community for intraprofessional networking and professional development. Keeps abreast of developments in field of expertise basing current instructional practice on recent evidence. Communicates learning expectation and incorporates current technology. Varies teaching techniques and incorporates current technology. Structures course activities and assignments based on learning outcomes. Provides student with timely written and oral feedback. Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • QualificationsMinimum
  • Qualifications: Possess a credential in the field of radiologic technology obtained through a national certification program that is accredited by Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and licensed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Have a minimum total of five years of current experience, ether in a hospital/clinic area, or as an instructor in a radiologic technology program, or a combination of both, within the past ten years. Possess a Bachelors’ Degree or greater. OTHER JOB-RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
