- Work Shift Day (United States of America) Job Summary: The position works under the supervision of the Sports Medicine Physician and the Head Athletic Trainer, and reports to the Director, Rehab Services.
- Provides athletic training services to student-athletes at designated athletic programs (colleges or high schools) and in accordance with the Georgia Practice Act.
- Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills in applying a detailed knowledge of the responsibilities, functions and structure of the department and of the larger institution.
- Works independently in organizing and prioritizing work, ensuring procedures, systems and orderly and timely flow of work through the office with the Athletic Director.
- Works independently in organizing and prioritizing sports medicine services at designated school(s).
- Makes decisions within prescribed limits of authority, in the absence of the Director, Rehab Services.
- Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: ATHLETIC TRAINER ESSENTIAL DUTIES Provides evaluation of athletic injuries to high school &/or college athletes, preventive and supportive taping of athletes and instructs taping techniques.
- Educates athletes, coaches, and parents about preventing injuries and appropriate treatment for injuries and illnesses.
- Coordinates scheduling for radiologic studies, patient clinic appointments, lectures to outside groups (Georgia Athletic Trainers, HOSA Classes) and visits to local athletic directors and/or coaches.
- Provides athletic training coverage for assigned school(s) with schedule to be determined.
- FIRST IMPRESSION Smiles and makes eye contact with patients and customers using AIDET.
- Conveys enthusiasm and sincerity through positive verbal communication, facial expression, and body language.
- Presents a professional appearance through adherence to dress code and personal hygiene.
- COURTESY Always addresses patient by their name and is warm and friendly.

- Answers telephone within three rings in a courteous manner as prescribed by department policy.
- RESPECT FOR DIGNITY Explains procedures to patients/family/S.O. in easy to understand terms.
- Respects the patients right to privacy by only discussing clinically relevant information in appropriate surrounding. (Patients Bill of Rights).
- Shares information, work knowledge, and/or experience with co-workers, physicians, and students in a non-threatening manner.

- Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree Athletic Training or similar degree from an accredited college Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- AT - Athletic Trainer or CAT - Certified Athletic Trainer BLS - Basic Life Support from American Red Cross or American Heart Association Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in outreach setting Preferred Required Minimum Skills: Ability to follow and interpret departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide athletic training services for practices and athletic contests as assigned.
- Act as a liaison between department Athletic Director, team physicians, student-athletes, coaches, athletic directors, fellow athletic trainers, and parents.
- Maintain injury/treatment log for student-athletes and submit periodic reports to Director as scheduled.
- Development and oversight of student athletic trainers.
- Attend any in-service activities/monthly meetings offered through assigned WellStar hospital.
- Secure, stock, and maintain a clean and organized Athletic Training Room.
- Maintain inventory of supplies.
- Promote athletic and sports safety in the community and assist Medical Director/Head Athletic Trainer with implementation of all aspects of program.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains licensure and other professional affiliations.
- Plan and implement Physicals for student athletes in conjunction with assigned schools, hospital, and physicians as determined by WellStar facility.
