Job description
Description The position of Preschool Teacher’s Aide is appointed by and is directly responsible to the Elementary Administration in carrying out the functions and policies as defined by the Head of School and the Board of Trustees. Any individual serving in the role of Preschool Teacher’s Aide must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to communicate and relate well to both children and adults. This person should project a professional appearance at all times and have the ability to provide stability for the program.

Be a good representative of CAK; refer to CAK employee handbook for professional expectations and policies Be dependable Verification of TBI/FBI background check Working knowledge of the school: mission, philosophy, and day-to-day operations Ability to work well with others, including administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students, and members of the greater CAK community Demonstrate flexibility during the busiest parts of the year and when unexpected tasks arise A bachelor’s degree or prior work experience in a related field preferred Display a love for the Lord, support the mission of CAK and possess a sincere, outgoing desire to serve all those associated with CAK Regularly attend and actively participate in a local Christian church Ability to work well with others, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and the community
Responsibilities
to students include: Provide adequate supervision of children when assigned a monitoring role Be aware of interactions and activities with children at all times Account for all students when transitioning areas Maintain zones when supervising students on playground; all students must be in view of an adult Report any injury or accident that involves children to administration Use praise and encouragement for good behavior Report any child abuse or neglect Maintain confidentiality regarding children, their families, and other employees outside of the school
Responsibilities
to teachers include: Support the lead teacher in implementing a structured curriculum, managing the classroom, and fostering the social, emotional and cognitive development of children typically aged 4-5; we are an academic setting focused on early literacy, numeracy, social /emotional development and school readiness, requiring assistants to participate in assessment, lesson reinforcement, engagement with families, and behavioral management Step into the lead position when the lead teacher is out, following lesson plans provided by the lead teacher Attend special area classes, chapels, and special events Assist in covering lunch duty Assist with classroom organization Assist with drop off and dismissal Lead small groups, work with individual students and help with whole group instruction Complete required professional development and Bible CEU credits Required CPR certification
Responsibilities
to the School include: Provide documentation of assigned Safe Schools training Maintain personal clock-in/out Follow guidelines for dealing with blood-borne pathogens Be aware of and follow any student learning plans if needed Be aware that discipline should be reasonable, age-appropriate, not in the form of shaming or humiliating. Support daily operations of reception area and clinic as needed
Responsibilities
to parents and the community include: Be aware of and follow emergency plans (fire drill, severe weather, lock-down) set by CAK
Other duties as assigned by the Elementary Administration.
