- Summary: The Social Studies Teacher (9–12) is responsible for teaching history, government, civics, economics, geography, and related social sciences to high school students. The teacher will foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and an understanding of historical and contemporary social issues, preparing students to be informed and engaged citizens.

- Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in Social Studies, including U.S. History, World History, Government/Civics, and Economics. Develop students’ analytical, research, and discussion skills through projects, debates, and assignments. Design and administer assessments, tests, essays, and projects to evaluate student learning. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, discussion, and civic responsibility. Integrate technology and multimedia tools to enhance instruction and student engagement. Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student development and school initiatives. Participate in professional development to remain current with social studies curriculum and instructional best practices. Encourage students to connect historical events and social concepts to current events and global perspectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, Political Science, or a related field. State teaching certification for secondary education (grades 9–12). Strong knowledge of social studies curriculum, critical thinking strategies, and instructional methods. Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students in a diverse learning environment. Preferred Skills: Experience teaching AP or Honors social studies courses. Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational technology. Ability to guide students in research projects, history fairs, or civic engagement activities. Working Conditions: Full-time, school-year position. Classroom-based, with occasional extracurricular or tutoring responsibilities.
