Position Overview The Athletic Trainer for Summer @ The Brook is responsible for supporting the health and safety of campers participating in athletic programs. This role provides on-site injury prevention, evaluation, and care, while working collaboratively with camp leadership and health staff to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

  • Reports to: Director of Auxiliary Programs / Head Nurse Key Responsibilities Injury Prevention & Care Provide on-site care for injuries and medical concerns during camp hours. ● Evaluate athletic injuries and determine appropriate treatment or referral. ● Implement basic treatment plans and monitor recovery as needed. Health & Safety Oversight Monitor campers for signs of heat-related illness, dehydration, and fatigue. ● Ensure proper hydration practices, including maintaining and refilling water coolers as needed. Support safe participation in all athletic activities by identifying risks and recommending modifications when necessary. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with the Head Nurse and camp staff to coordinate care and respond to health concerns. Communicate clearly with staff regarding participant safety and activity readiness. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate injury reports and treatment documentation. Track incidents and communicate relevant information to camp leadership. Required Qualifications Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential required. Current CPR/AED certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with youth athletes in a camp, school, or recreational setting. Skills & Competencies Strong assessment and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and respond effectively in emergency situations. ● Strong communication and organizational skills. Commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Additional Requirements Completion of all required onboarding and training prior to the start of camp. ● Successful completion of background checks in accordance with New York State regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to be active outdoors for extended periods in summer conditions. ● Ability to respond quickly to injuries across athletic fields and facilities. ● Ability to lift, assist, or support individuals as needed.
