Full-Time, Salary $65,000-$75,000/year

Monday – Friday, 8 am - 3 pm (32.5 hours/week)

The Role

As an Occupational Therapist in our Children’s Day Program, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities in their daily lives. You will work closely with them, providing therapeutic services that will assist our students in achieving ever increasing levels of independence. This is a truly rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a tangible difference.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate, assess or screen clients using appropriate standardized testing and clinical observational skills
  • Provide occupational therapy services according to mandated paperwork (i.e. IEP’s, IFSP etc.)
  • Provide required documentation for services that your program and/or supervisor have outlined for you.
  • Maintain documentation in a professional, efficient, accountable and confidential manner.
  • Attend all meetings as scheduled and collaborate with other professionals, staff and families.
  • Maintain and update professional knowledge, skills and abilities through appropriate continuing education, in-service training or higher education.
  • Evaluate, fit and adjust prosthetic, orthotic and adaptive equipment devices.
  • Consult with equipment technicians, physicians or others related to the client’s needs
  • All other duties as assigned

What You Need for the Role

  • Licensed in Occupational Therapy by NYSED
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program registered by the state education department or accredited by a national accreditation agency.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience treating children with disabilities preferred
  • Must be able to modify the area to secure the safety of the individuals, e.g., move/push tables and other heavy objects up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift/move/carry 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to run after an individual, up to 500 feet.
  • Must be able to run to a program in need, up to 500 feet.
  • Must be able to kneel, twist, and bend.
  • Must be able to respond to fire alarms.
