  • SUMMARY: Career-Technical Instructors have the responsibility to prepare students to meet entry-level knowledge and skill requirements in their specialty areas. The Career-Technical Instructors report to the Dean of Career and Technical Education. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Teaches students the occupational competencies necessary for employment. 2. Prepares course competency-based outlines for each instructional course or program. 3. Prepares detailed lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory experiments for all units of instruction. 4. Recommends changes in the total curriculum in order to maintain an up-to-date program. 5. Develops and maintains the progress of each student in the program. 6. Teaches related subject matter. 7. Supervises laboratory experience. 8. Develops a schedule of courses for each semester. 9. Reviews and selects instructional materials such as textbooks and audio-visual materials. 10. Completes requests for supplies and other instructional materials on a timely basis. 11. Completes enrollment and follow-up reports. 12. Assists in the development of an annual budget for the instructional program. 13. Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment. 14. Recommends new and/or replacement equipment to be purchased for the program. 15. Maintains proper inventory of all equipment and tools assigned to the program. 16. Keeps equipment functioning and in good working order by establishing an effective preventive maintenance system. 17. Maintains an active craft committee that meets twice a year. 18. Visits industry for the purpose of developing a good rapport with potential employees. 19. Takes an active role in the advisement and counseling of students. 20. Helps students find employment in an occupation related to training. 21. Fulfills the requirements of career license certification by attending specified classes and workshops. 22. Serves on various faculty committees. 23. Attends faculty meetings and workshops. 24. Performs assigned duties on orientation days scheduled during summer months.
