Company Description Position Overview

The Near North Montessori (NNM) school Physical Education Teacher instructs physical education (PE) classes for the school that promote sound principles of physical, social, and psychological development for students in a safe, stimulating environment consistent with the school’s mission.

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Develop curriculum for the Physical Education program at Elementary and Junior High levels that emphasize healthy physical and mental fitness, habits and skills Teach assigned classes, groups and rotations based on approved curriculum appropriate to the level and progress of students throughout the school year Monitor student progress and keep PE/Athletics Director up to date with progress on the group and individual students throughout the school year Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress, participation, and any behavioral concerns in physical education, providing timely updates and partnering to support student growth and well-being Work collaboratively with other PE/Athletics staff to develop and enforce effective PE policies, procedures and safety; communicate information to school staff appropriately Collaborate and communicate with PE/Athletic Director and Teachers to understand developmental needs of a level and individual students tailoring instruction appropriately Assist with maintenance of PE/Athletics environment(s) and equipment Coach various seasonal sports: Flag Football, Cross Country, Basketball, Track, Soccer Attend up to two (2) week long class trips as assigned by NNM leadership team Acquire professional training in the educational field by attending educational conferences, training workshops and other related activities Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in similar field or related level of experience Prior experience teaching activity-based classes CPR & First Aid certification (Provided by NNM) Excellent communication, planning and organization skills Academically current in the general discipline (physical education) A natural rapport with children; understanding of the basic developmental needs of 3-14-year-olds Strong communication and organizational skills Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Demonstrated commitment to creating diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments for all students Strong research, administrative, and time management skills Good communication skills, sound judgment and emotional maturity Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Google Drive tools Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

Additional Information

Pay Information: The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 based on skills and experience. The schedule for this position is 10:00am - 6:00pm Monday through Friday.
