  • Summary: The Behavioral Health Coordinator will have expertise in working with families and youth at risk and understand the child's behavior with the knowledge of setting up supports and interventions for student success in an out of school time environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assess the social, emotional and behavioral health needs of children and engage in daily consultation with Site Director(s) and staff to ensure the needs of children enrolled are met; Provide on-site support to program staff around positive behavior guidance through observation, training, modeling and coaching; Respond to child incidents or crisis by gathering information, assessing situation and recommending appropriate resources and supports; Attend child intake meetings, when requested, to learn about child needs and necessary accommodations, supports and resources and ensure follow up and implementation happens; Facilitate meetings with parents, families, social workers and mental health counselors, and wrap-around team members; Make recommendations for child/program support plans based on child observations; parent conference meetings; review of child IEP plans, 504 plans, school behavior plans and FKO incident report history; and other information gathered; Develop and ensure adherence to afterschool and summer support plans for high need children; Provide guidance to program leaders with DCF and FKO reporting policies and procedures regarding allegations of child abuse and neglect; Participate in regular communities of practice; Attend FKO monthly staff meetings and professional development sessions, supporting with the delivery of training content, as requested; Attend meetings with organization’s partners such as school districts, local mental health agencies, etc.; Connect with community organizations to gather resources and build partnerships; Travel between FKO program sites; and All other duties as they relate to supporting the behavioral health needs of children. Education/ExperienceEducation and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Special Education, Psychology, Mental Health or another related field with a minimum of 5 years' experience supporting school age children with high needs or; Master’s degree in Social Work, Education, Special Education, Psychology, Mental Health or another related field with a minimum of 3 years' experience supporting school age children with high needs Bilingual (Spanish) Required Must pass MA EEC Background Record Check Physical Requirements: Requires standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, and running Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
