About the role

The Assistant Teacher provides one-on-one support to children aged 2-3 with diverse needs to help implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). They are responsible for monitoring student progress and collaborating with staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Description Job Title: Teacher Assistant for Early Intervention Center

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to join our Early Intervention Center. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to support students (age 2-3 yrs old) with diverse needs in a one-on-one setting. This role is essential in fostering a positive learning environment and promoting the development of each student. If you have a Letter of Approval based on a Criminal Background Check conducted by the NYC DOHMH, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students during classroom activities and lessons.
  • Help create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and document student progress and behavior.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop effective teaching strategies.
  • Support students in developing social and communication skills.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in early childhood education or special education is a plus.
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and early intervention strategies.
