About the role

Support the Head of Program in developing a Christ-centered volleyball program by providing quality instruction and mentoring athletes. Responsibilities include planning practices, coaching games, and ensuring compliance with school and TAPPS policies.

Part-Time, exempt. Full-Time if combined with staff/Faculty duties.

Position Summary

Support the Head of Program in building a Christ-centered volleyball program that develops skill, character, and teamwork. Provide quality instruction, model CCA’s mission and values, and help ensure program consistency, safety, and TAPPS compliance for Varsity (assistant/JV) and/or Middle School teams.

Demonstrates excellence and attention to detail in all coaching, planning, administrative, and leadership responsibilities.

Models professionalism, respect, and composure at all times, upholds TAPPS and school policies, and strengthens a collaborative, Christ-centered, mission-driven culture.

Leads the volleyball program in a culture marked by reverence for God, respect for others, and responsibility to the community, reflecting the core values of a Christ-centered team environment.

Honors each athlete as an image-bearer of God, approaching discipline, correction, and challenges with dignity, patience, and a restorative mindset while partnering effectively with parents.

Responds to the unique needs of athletes and coaches with wisdom, compassion, and discernment, providing timely support rooted in both grace and truth.

Demonstrates consistent spiritual growth that is evident through Christ-centered words, actions, and attitudes both on and off the court.

Models the humility, integrity, and servant-hearted leadership of Christ in all interactions with athletes, coaches, colleagues, and families.

Actively serves the school and athletic community, fostering a culture grounded in biblical principles and seeking regular opportunities to encourage, support, and uplift others.

Extends grace, mercy, and forgiveness freely, cultivating a spirit of unity, reconciliation, peace, and healthy collaboration within the program.

Participates faithfully in a local church, engaging in worship, fellowship, and spiritual accountability as part of a committed Christian walk consistent with CCA’s covenantal expectations.

Key role responsibilities

Assist in planning and running practices focused on fundamentals, skill progression, and game preparation.

Coach games as assigned; implement varsity strategies or age-Appropriate schemes for middle school.

Mentor athletes spiritually and relationally; integrate biblical truth and prayer into team life.

Communicate clearly and promptly with players, families, head coach, and ad.

Support athlete evaluation, feedback, and individual development plans.

Help with scouting, game-Day management, substitutions, and in-Game adjustments.

Enforce tapps and school policies (Eligibility, documentation, safety, conduct).

Assist with logistics: Equipment, facility setup, transportation coordination, and volunteer assignments.

Participate in coach meetings, onboarding, and ongoing professional development.

Represent cca with professionalism and christ-Like character at school and community events.

Qualifications

  • Growing, mature faith in Jesus Christ aligned with Covenant’s Statement of Faith, mission, and community standards.
  • Commitment to Christian education, discipleship, and Christ-centered coaching.
  • Coaching experience at high school, middle school, or club level; collegiate or head-coaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in skill development, practice planning, and athlete mentorship.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; team-oriented collaborator.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; current teaching certification preferred for combined faculty/coach roles.

Requirements

Candidates must have a mature faith in Jesus Christ and coaching experience at the high school, middle school, or club level. A bachelor's degree and teaching certification are preferred, along with CPR/First Aid certification.
