Job description

The YMCA of Greater Springfield is looking for and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a youth program instructor at our Scantic Valley Branch Location

Hourly Rate

$15.00

Position summary

Under the direction of the Youth Program Instructor, this person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. This position averages 5 hours per week but can be supplemented with hours in child watch, wellness floor, or custodial services. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:

Essential functions

  • Assist in the development, implementation and instruction of high-quality preschool, youth, and family programming.
  • Create a climate that fosters YMCA goals for a fun, engaging atmospheres for all participants.
  • Ensure that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Assist with reporting, mailings, phone calls and research as requested.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Ensure proper care, use, and storage of equipment.
  • Assist in program marketing, promotion, evaluation, and retention.
  • Assist with member recruitment and conversion opportunities for participants.
  • Facilitate communication, provide leadership, exercise sound judgment, and provide high level conflict resolution skills.

Qualifications

Additional years of professional experience or a Rank of E-5 or better may be used in lieu of education requirements where permitted.
  • One to two years of related experience working with children, such as a sports coach or instructor.
  • Experience in program development and/or building curriculum.
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
