Our tutors work with elementary-aged students (G1-G5) in both one-on-one and small-group settings, helping students build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, grammar, and communication while developing academic confidence.

This role is ideal for educators who are patient, engaging, and enthusiastic about working with younger learners. Tutors provide personalized instruction tailored to individual student needs during one-on-one sessions, while also facilitating collaborative learning and discussion in group classes. Our goal is to support students in becoming confident, capable learners in a structured and encouraging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons for students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Teach core English skills, including vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and verbal communication, with a strong emphasis on phonics and spelling for younger learners.
  • Create fun, interactive lessons that actively engage students while encouraging critical thinking and skill development.
  • Use strong communication skills to clearly explain concepts, provide guidance, and support students with varying learning needs, including English language learners.
  • Develop and implement formative and summative assessments to gauge student learning and monitor progress.
  • Provide constructive, age-appropriate feedback to help students build confidence and improve academically.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, curiosity, and respectful behavior.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a structured and encouraging learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a reputable U.S. or U.K. university (required).
  • Experience working with younger students, including early childhood development or elementary teaching experience (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and in a timely manner with staff regarding student progress, concerns, or learning needs.
  • High level of attention to detail, particularly in monitoring student learning, growth, and improvement.
  • Patient, positive, and enthusiastic demeanor with a genuine passion for working with younger students.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the developmental and learning needs of individual students.

Schedule

Flexible working hours with the ability to choose your own schedule Monday to Friday availability Optional weekend hours available Part-time Join A Plus 1 Academy and make a meaningful impact by helping students develop essential English skills and grow into confident, capable learners.

Pay

$30.00 - $40.00 per hour
