About the role

The Education Assistant supports teachers with administrative tasks and leads classes during teacher absences. They are responsible for implementing lesson plans and maintaining school rules and expectations for adolescents with behavioral disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Education Assistant Copper Hills Youth Center, located in West Jordan, UT is a private residential treatment center for adolescents 12-17 years of age.
  • We counsel, teach and mentor children placed in our care and give each child a chance to make successful changes.
  • At Copper Hills Youth Center, we treat boys and girls who have emotional, behavioral and psychiatric disorders.
  • Our accredited private school allows students to continue their education while receiving treatment.
  • We are seeking a full time collaborative Education Assistant who will: Assist Teachers in administrative work and teach classes when a teacher is absent Will implement lesson plans during a teacher’s absence and identify basic teaching materials in the event of unplanned teacher absences.
  • Will set limits with students (teens) and help them learn to follow school rules and expectations.
  • Be part of an innovative teaching team that embraces hands on learning, cooperative learning and teacher collaboration.
  • Have an average class size of students is 10-14 student Will be trained to administer student achievement testing, requesting student records, conducting credit assessments and the using the online student information system/gradebook.

Qualifications

include, but are not limited to: High School Diploma or higher Previous experience working with teens in a school setting preferred Must possess good organizational skills Must be able to manage competing demands Able to work with Word and Excel Must be comfortable with utilizing technology (PCs, Chromebooks and classroom projectors) Possess effective verbal and written communications skills. Requirements

Candidates must have at least a high school diploma and be able to pass a thorough background check. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with teenagers in a school setting are preferred.
