  • Range: $20.00 - $20.00 HourlyThis is a part-time, hourly position for the 2026-2027 school year, anticipated dates of employment are August 2026 - June 2027. This position reports directly to the Director of Sports Performance. The individual in this position is responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of the sports performance program. This position carries out all areas of strength and conditioning for teams and classes. In addition, the Assistant Sports Performance Coach will support the director in the daily operation of the facilities and other duties as assigned. The Assistant Sports Performance Coach will also carry out additional administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance. Finally, this position will carry out all areas of Sports Performance for assigned teams while adhering to CHSAA, NSCA, CA and athletics departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Responsibilities/Essential Functions Design, implement, supervise and monitor all facets of the

  • Performance program, to include: Periodized Annual Plans Sport specific resistance training programs Sport specific conditioning programs Individual programs when necessitated Conduct fitness testing, computation of results, and evaluation Collaboration with sport coaching personnel to monitor, assess and develop protocols for training loads, neuromuscular fatigue, recovery, athlete readiness, and other performance factors. Instruct proper lifting technique and assist in spotting when necessary. Effectively and properly motivate athletes to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance. Anticipate potential risks of injury, have the ability to implement emergency medical procedures. Assist the Director of Sports Performance with all tasks for which he/she is responsible and manage the general operation of the facility in the Director’s absence; Be prepared to fulfill all responsibilities of the Director of Sports Performance in his/her absence. Establish and maintain positive working relationships and provide a high level of service and communication with Sports Performance Staff, Sports Medicine, Mental Performance, and Athletics administrative team. Maintain all required strength & conditioning certifications and memberships (NSCA – CSCS, and/or (CSCCa – SCCC) Maintain current CPR/AED certifications Develop and Maintain open communication with the Director of Sports Performance. Maintain a positive attitude and working relationship within the Sports Performance program. Support all staff members when necessary to assure continued operations of the Sports Performance team. Anticipate potential safety risks, take measures to remove them, and in the event of an injury, have the ability to implement emergency medical procedures. Must be able to understand, implement, and keep up to date on any computer program used in the department.
  • Acquire technical expertise in all facets of our program: lifting, conditioning, speed and agility development, plyometrics, flexibility, and nutrition. Keep the weight rooms clean at all times. Pick up paper, pencils, towels, chalk, etc. Keep all equipment properly maintained i.e., lubricating, cleaning, disinfecting. Report all equipment and weight room damages. Participate in special projects, committees, or other initiatives as assigned. Regularly update the athletic department as to the current Industry’s Professional Standards and Guidelines. Ability to work hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends. Prepare yourself to function positively and enthusiastically in that atmosphere. Ability to move heavy objects, remain stationary for long periods, work in various environmental conditions, and assist injured individuals on / off playing surfaces. Establish yourself as a coach with the athletes. Develop a positive rapport with them. Adhere to and implement industry accepted, scientifically supported methodologies for all varsity athletic programs. Methods must be tested and properly implemented into the overall training plan for each athlete. Methods Establish and maintain collaborative alliances with multiple stakeholders at the Colorado Academy Use technology to foster an effective and efficient overall experience for student-athletes and department team members. Assist with special projects as assigned regarding donor and student-athlete support Contribute to the development of an environment for team members and student-athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and culturally diverse. Adhere to the Code of Ethics and credentialing requirements of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and other credentialing organizations and the State of Colorado Whenever deviating from the normal procedure, you must get approval from your supervisor. Be willing to help other staff members when you have free time. Keep the weight room secure at all times. Lock all doors (entry doors, offices, and storage areas) when leaving the room. Conduct regular meetings with respective sport coaches. Support your Head Coach and the program they run. Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by the CHSAA and CA administration. Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred. Holds a relevant professional certification from a recognized agency, such as the NSCA's Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), United States Weightlifting (USAW), NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES). Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and mentor young athletes. Must be able to demonstrate creativity, sound judgment, and decision-making, be an effective problem solver, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing Evidence of ability to interact positively with all members of the community including; student athletes, colleagues, parents, and the public.

Requirements

Previous experience working with high school or collegiate athletes. Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes. Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions. Knowledge of current NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards and Guidelines. Must know how to operate strength training equipment, automated external defibrillator (AED), and sports aid equipment. Current certifications in standard first aid, CPR, and AED. Interruptions of work are routine,flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. Must be able to work under stressful conditions Early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required. Candidates should be eager to join a professional community that values collaboration, excellent interpersonal skills are required. Physical Requirements Ability to visually monitor athletes. Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Work surfaces will vary. Able to work in both Inside and outside environments, in varying weather.
