The instructor is responsible for teaching martial arts classes to students ranging from preschool to adult age. This includes demonstrating skills, managing equipment, and maintaining attendance records according to association guidelines.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Regional Sports Director, the Martial Instructor teaches all assigned Martial Arts classes within the guidelines of the Association to maintain the quality of programs. Responsible for creating learning opportunities for specific Martial Arts programs for ages preschool through adult. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must be able to demonstrate and explain basic Martial Arts skills that are being taught. Must be able to work at the learning level of particular class. Prepares teaching area with necessary equipment and the returns equipment to proper storage area when class is complete. Works with individuals and groups within a class structure to enable all to correct faults, improve self-image, and progress their abilities. Keeps class attendance records. Follows designated curriculum for classes to ensure basic components are met and set standards for progression are followed.

Qualifications

Certifications Black Belt or equivalent (Strongly preferred) First Aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of employment Experience working with kids All Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people. It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.

Requirements

Candidates should ideally hold a Black Belt or equivalent and must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days. Experience working with children and adherence to youth safety codes of conduct are required.
