• Shift: DayCatholic Charities Maine Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired Children currently has a Full-Time opening for a TVI Assistant. The TVI Assistant is a paraprofessional who provides in-person instructional and program support to children (ages 0–22) who are blind or visually impaired. The TVI Assistant works under the guidance of the Teacher of Blind and Visually Impaired Children (TVI) to implement educational programming that supports student access and independence in the least restrictive environment. Support includes instructional activities designed by the TVI in areas such as Braille prep, assistive technology, independent living skills, and social development. This position is primarily field-based/in-person, with responsibilities carried out in homes, schools, or community settings, while collaborating with a remotely based TVI.

Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities, preferred. Experience supporting students with visual impairments, Braille, or assistive technology is a plus. Experience working in educational or home-based service settings preferred. Regular travel between service locations is required. Employee must maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
