  • Position Overview The Pre-K Paraprofessional supports the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher in creating a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment for young learners.
  • This role assists with classroom instruction, student supervision, learning activities, and daily classroom operations while helping students build foundational academic and social-emotional skills.
  • The Pre-K Paraprofessional works closely with the classroom teacher to support students through structured routines, hands-on learning activities, and positive behavior support strategies.
  • This role requires patience, flexibility, strong communication skills, and a passion for working with early childhood students.
  • Key Responsibilities Classroom Support Assist the Pre-K Teacher with daily classroom instruction and learning activities.
  • Support students during: Small group instruction Centers and hands-on learning activities Transitions and classroom routines Reinforce teacher-led instruction and learning objectives.
  • Help prepare instructional materials and classroom resources.
  • Student Supervision & Support Supervise students throughout the school day to maintain a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Support students in developing: Social-emotional skills Independence Positive classroom behaviors Assist students with daily routines including: Arrival and dismissal Meals and snacks Bathroom breaks Classroom transitions Provide additional support to students who need redirection or assistance.
  • Classroom Environment Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Support classroom setup, organization, and preparation of materials.
  • Assist with maintaining classroom routines and behavioral expectations.
  • Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with the classroom teacher and school staff to support student success.
  • Communicate professionally with staff and families when appropriate.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as assigned.
  • Qualifications & Competencies Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience working with young children in a school, childcare, preschool, or early childhood setting preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with Pre-K students in a structured classroom environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, patience, and flexibility throughout the school day.
  • Commitment to supporting students in diverse and Title I communities.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field. Experience supporting early literacy and kindergarten readiness activities. Bilingual (Spanish-English). Physical Requirements Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the school day. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move frequently during classroom activities. Ability to lift, carry, or assist young children when necessary. Ability to assist with classroom setup, materials organization, and cleaning activities.
