  • Summary: As the RN, Certified Diabetic Educator, you collaborate to provide diabetes education to patients in ambulatory settings. You will assess, create care plans, and implement the education programs related to diabetes including glucose monitors, insulin pumps and closed-loop systems, ensuring patient understanding and proper usage.   • Skills: Must be able to understand directions, communicate, and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer. Completes training and certifications required to provide education on current treatment options and technologies; including, but not limited to insulin infusion pumps, continuous glucose monitors and professional blood glucose monitors. Knowledge of diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy, treatment, teaching techniques, and adult learning. Good interpersonal relationships with patients and families. Maintains competency to perform appropriate point-of-care testing, per policy.

License

Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
