The Practical Nursing Instructor is responsible for delivering quality classroom, clinical, and laboratory instruction to ensure students achieve course competency. They must manage the classroom environment, assess student learning, and support student retention and success.
Candidates must hold a current, unencumbered Michigan RN license and a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing science, or an ADN while pursuing a BSN. At least one year of documented experience related to the course being taught is required.
Must document and maintain current, unencumbered Michigan licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and Must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing science and Must possess at least one year’s documented experience related to the course taught. An individual with an associate degree in Nursing (ADN) who is actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is qualified to teach in the Practical Nurse program. Courses not entitled “NUR” may be taught by an LPN or higher, or someone with a bachelor’s degree in the subject taught. Documentation of enrollment in BSN program required. ‘Exception 'paperwork must be filed with the Board of Nursing prior to the instructor teaching. This ‘exception’ is good for two years. WORKING / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be required to work late and occasional weekends to support business needs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard and other office equipment.
