Position Summary

The Pre-K Lead Teacher will be responsible for the overall supervision and daily functions of his/her classroom. Additionally, Lead Teachers are responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This position is responsible for lesson plan development and implementation, classroom management, parent communication, and fostering a love of learning in young children.

  • Key Responsibilities Classroom Leadership & Teaching Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with Frog Street curriculum, other curriculums as supplied, and BHS best practices.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages learning, exploration, and creativity.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including direct instruction, small and large groups, play-based learning, music, movement, and sensory activities.
  • Closely monitor child progress and learning outcomes to prepare students for Kindergarten.
  • Child Development & Care Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of children at all times.
  • Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Observe and document each child's progress, sharing insights with families.
  • Prepare for and conduct parent teacher conferences twice during the school year to communicate child progress with parents.
  • Differentiate instruction as needed to support each child’s learning and development.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration Mentor and guide Assistant Teachers, ensuring a smooth classroom workflow.
  • Maintain open, professional communication with school leadership, families and staff.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training.
  • Classroom Management & Compliance Observe all rules, regulations, and best practices in accordance with DECAL state licensing guidelines, company policy, and other regulatory bodies to ensure the health, safety, and care of children.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and nurturing classroom.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, including toileting, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate with parents daily about their child’s development, milestones, and concerns.

Qualifications

Passionate about early childhood education and child development. Strong understanding of age-appropriate learning and behavior guidance. Able to create a warm, engaging, and structured learning environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Organized, patient, and adaptable to children's needs. Position Requirements: DECAL requires Lead teachers in Georgia to have one of the following valid and current certificates or credentials: Strongly Preferred: Certified teacher in Early Childhood or Birth to Five education or a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related degree. Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development (AA, AAS, AAT). Minimum of 2–3 years of teaching experience in a licensed early childhood education (ECE) program in a lottery funded PreK or private PreK. Experience in private or public school. Experience in private or public school settings is also preferred. Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screen. CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Ability to lift to 40 lbs. and engage physically with children throughout the day
