Job Description

A private international boarding school is seeking a bilingual (Japanese/English) School Counselor to support high school students in their academic, emotional, and social development. The role involves providing individual and group counseling, crisis support, and developing a school-wide wellness and mental health curriculum for students, faculty, and staff. The position is full-time, on-campus, and includes collaboration with a diverse residential school community.

Requirements

Bilingual fluency in Japanese and English (spoken, written, and reading) Master’s degree or higher in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field Active NY State licensure (e.g., LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent) Experience working with adolescents in a school or clinical setting Ability to design or implement wellness / SEL programs Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a multicultural, residential school environment Experience with boarding school or international student populations preferred Crisis intervention and student mental health support experience preferred
