Job description

  • The Rivers School — a 6-12 co-ed independent day school in Weston, MA, just outside Boston — seeks professionals who are looking to join a dynamic, innovative, and welcoming school community.
  • This one-year leave upper school history position for fall 2026 will consist of teaching four sections and possibly contributing to the co-curricular life of the school through coaching or club mentoring.
  • The position will begin with opening professional community meetings at the end of August 2026 and run through June 2027.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to personal growth and professional development as a teacher of history, research, and writing, as well as the ability and desire to collaborate effectively with colleagues regarding curriculum and pedagogy.
  • A team-first attitude, a sincere care for student wellbeing, and a commitment to advancing the school’s DEI mission are also essential qualities for a successful Rivers teacher.
  • Candidates for this position should have strong organizational skills and at least two years’ experience teaching history (preferably at the high school level).
  • A bachelor’s degree in History or a related field is required; a master’s degree in History, education, or a related subfield is preferred.
