Job description
Sinai Akiba Academy seeks dynamic, committed, and creative Judaic Studies Teaching Assistants to work alongside experienced lead teachers in our Lower School (kindergarten through 5th grade). TAs are responsible for assisting the teacher in teaching curriculum, preparing instructional materials, working with small groups of students, and supporting the students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. TAs also work closely with other Staffulty members and TAs to support and supervise students as they transition between classes and activities, during recess and lunch periods, and at other academic and non-academic times. Teaching Assistants participate in the school community including implementing RULER and Responsive Classroom practices in the classroom and other school settings, collaborating with other Staffulty on interdisciplinary projects, and participating in Staffulty meetings and professional development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist lead Judaic Studies teachers with implementation of Judaic Studies curriculum, assessment, and positive student engagement in the classroom, on-campus, and during off-campus activities and experiential learning opportunities, i.e. field trips. Utilize appropriate instructional materials and techniques as guided by the Judaic Studies lead teacher(s) or learning specialist(s) to differentiate for multiple learning needs Collaborate and implement lesson plans as designated by lead Judaic Studies teacher(s) Assist in student accountability and curricular completion, including helping to track student progress and completion of assignments Attend TA Staffulty meetings, in-services, professional development, and all other required meetings Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, working cooperatively with multi-disciplinary teams to serve a diverse student population Supervise students during recess, lunch, and other specified non-teaching times Complete additional tasks in support of Sinai Akiba’s mission, as directed by the Director of Jewish Education, Director of Student Life & Experiential Learning, and/or Head of School
Requirements
AND QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred A love of elementary school students is a must Prior experience working with school aged children Proficiency with Google Suite (Google Calendar, Google Docs) and adept computer skills Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Hebrew required Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English required Ability to positively collaborate with partner teachers and colleagues Ability to engage professionally and positively with colleagues, students and families Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning Ability to work on campus weekdays 7:30AM - 3:45PM
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Hourly Rate Range
$21.00 - $30.00 Excellent benefit package with a portion of medical paid by SAA Generous paid time off and holidays 403b and employer funded retirement plans Professional development opportunities In the spirit of pay transparency we share the hourly rate range for this position: $21.00 - $30.00. The hourly rate range is exclusive of fringe benefits, retirement plan employer contributions or potential stipends (for eligible employees). Pay ranges at SAA are reasonable estimates of what the School anticipates paying for a role but are not guaranteed. If hired at SAA, your final hourly rate will be determined by factors such as skills, education, experience, job level, part-time status and number of months of work per academic year. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity with our current employees as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full hourly rate range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical for SAA in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
