Job description
Tennis Instructor – Summer Camp
- Cranbrook Schools Summer Camp is seeking an experienced Tennis Instructor.
- This position will supervise and manage all campers to ensure consistent engagement and safety for each camper during the activity.
- They will deliver tennis instruction and activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities.
- They will interact with families and campers in a positive, nurturing and enriching manner.
- The Tennis Instructor will create lesson plans and supply requirements for the Camp Director and assist in the management of the tennis facilities and equipment.
Responsibilities
- include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures in tennis.
- Assist in the implementation of staff training for tennis.
- Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities by conducting daily checks of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
- Clean tennis area daily keeping it free of hazards and debris.
- Maintain American Camp Association accreditation standards and Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential licensing requirements applicable to tennis activities.
- Attention to campers’ activities, engagement, safety and whereabouts at all times is paramount.
- Teach assigned sports, skills, crafts, or techniques to campers utilizing the assistance of camp counselors.
Qualifications
High school diploma; experience in activity; teaching experience; certified in activity or be open to early training (if applicable); superior problem-solving skills and ability to relate with campers, staff, and parents.
Preferred
Currently attending or graduated from college; camp employment experience.
Timeframe
June 8th to August 9th; Weekdays only except first and last. Must be able to work the entire length of camp.
