The Career Services Representative provides individualized guidance to students and graduates to help them secure job opportunities related to their studies. This includes creating resumes, facilitating employment workshops, and building strategic partnerships with local and international employers.

About the Role

The Career Services Representative plays an integral role in assisting students and graduates with career placement. The key responsibility is to assist students in preparing to find suitable job opportunities in fields related to their program of study or their area of specialization.

What you'll do

Provide individualized guidance to students on their career goals, interview skills, job search skills, and career development.

Align job opportunities with student academic training.

Assist students in creating and enhancing their resumes and cover letters to tailor them to specific job opportunities.

Prepare workshops in effective job search strategies, including identifying online opportunities, using professional social and human networks, and participating in virtual and in-person job fairs.

Establish and maintain strong relationships with potential employers to identify job opportunities for students, organize recruitment events, collaborate with local and international companies, and create placement program opportunities.

Plan and facilitate employment-related workshops and events, such as interview preparation sessions, employer talks, and professional panels.

Follow up with students to assess their progress in job searching, provide ongoing support, and adjust strategies as necessary.

Maintain accurate records of interactions with students, identified job opportunities, and job placement outcomes to report on program success.

Work closely with other departments, such as academics, to support students in their comprehensive professional development.

Regularly evaluate job placement programs, services, and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop new initiatives to meet changing student and labor market needs.

Conduct a survey for alumni (graduates) to manage progress and identify job placement.

Maintain effectiveness and a comprehensive approach to strategic collaborations to help students and graduates succeed in their transition to the workforce.

Prepare accurate programmatic placement reports for licensing and accrediting agencies.

Qualifications

  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
  • Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of career services, placement, job search advising experience or closely related professional role at a higher education entity.
  • Language Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Spanish (verbal and written) is required.
  • Proficient communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • General Skills and Knowledge
  • Computer competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Be committed to a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with personnel and clients.
  • Strong leadership skills and able to work in a team environment with a diverse community.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and have at least one year of experience in career services or job search advising within higher education. Proficiency in both English and Portuguese, along with competency in Microsoft Office, is required.
