Now Hiring at the Carls Family YMCA YMCA Employee Benefits FREE Family Membership & Discounted Access to Programs Flexible Scheduling Family-friendly Work Environment Employee Assistance Program & Retirement Plan General Function The Martial Arts Instructor will be responsible and accountable for planning, conducting, and evaluating high quality classes, while informing and serving YMCA members and volunteers in a premier fashion.

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications At minimum, a high school degree or equivalent is required Experience working with children in a group setting is preferred, not required CPR and First Aid certifications must be current within 30 days of hire An understanding of physical education principles is essential as well as the ability to work with people of all ages and fitness levels Job

Duties & Responsibilities

Teaches members the proper and preferred technique for all exercises Communicates positively with members by motivating them through creativity, personality, energy and enthusiasm Maintains a neat, clean and pleasant environment throughout the entire YMCA and especially in the areas where the Martial Arts classes are held. Maintains safety in all classes by following YMCA and national certification guidelines Organizes, at a minimum, three family events for participants from the Martial Arts program Informs members of new information regarding training, exercise safety and effectiveness Performs other assigned duties as directed by Supervisor Abilities & Skills Physical ability to perform the classes they will be leading Ability to communicate verbally to individuals and small groups, especially children For more opportunities to join our team, please visit the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit's career page (ymcadetroit.org/careers). Requirements
