Overview
St. Francis Children’s Center specializes in serving children with special needs through individualized, play based therapy. We are currently seeking a Speech Language Pathologist who has experience working with children to join our collaborative team in our outpatient therapy clinic. Our therapy services should be provided in a manner which is sensitive to the cultural, physical, psychological and social developmental needs of each child and family.
- Essential Functions
- Reviews doctor’s orders and insurance authorization before completing evaluation
- Selects proper assessment tools and evaluates children for speech/language and oral motor/feeding difficulties.
- Performs the initial therapy evaluation within established guidelines and completes plan of care regarding child’s progress every 90 days, or as specified by insurance company.
- Interprets evaluation results to the family and physician treating all involved with respect and cultural humility.
- Administers treatment techniques in the areas of oral motor/feeding therapy, speech/language development and/or disorders, and communication
- Incorporates goals and objectives from all developmental areas into treatment plan and provides ongoing treatment according to the child’s needs
- Consults with physicians and community professionals as required to meet the child’s emotional and developmental needs.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of therapy equipment
- Educates, trains, supports and provides families and caregivers with functional activities oriented to the goals and objectives that have been established for the child, modifying them as appropriate to conform to the context of their daily routines and traditions
- Maintains and submits all paperwork, billing, case notes and reports in a timely manner
- Actively participates in all required meetings and works cooperatively with all team members
- Works with the Director of Therapy Services to ensure all files are audit compliant
- Serves as a positive ambassador for St. Francis Children’s Center

- Work is performed in outpatient pediataric clinic with exposure to noise, movement and sensory stimulation.

- Required Education/License/Certifications
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Speech Language Pathology
- State of Wisconsin Speech/Language Pathologist license
- American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification
- Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and may not have more than three current minor driving violations and/or one current at-fault accident on your record. Auto insurance must include $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury and $100,000 property damage
- Required Knowledge and Skills
- At least one year of experience working as a pediatric language pathologist strongly preferred
- Ability to function effectively, independently and with a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of confidentiality and ethics
- Computer literacy required including Office 365 and the ability to learn new programs
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
