Expectations of a BCBA include (but are not limited to)

  • Administer behavior intervention plans and tailor interventions as needed
  • Meeting with families and school staff to discuss the scholar’s behavior intervention plans and progress and recommend ways to address behavioral issues
  • Developing individual plans to correct, maintain, or improve certain behaviors
  • Provide direct instructional supports including, but not limited to, practicum supervision/teaching, class instruction and in-service instruction to other support professionals.
  • Provide on-going training and support to support professionals and ABA implementers
  • Ongoing training and supervision of paraprofessional staff in implementation of behavior reduction strategies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, to conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate behavior strategies and intervention plans
  • Meeting with scholars to observe and assess scholar behavior
  • Meeting with families and school staff to discuss the scholar’s behavior intervention plan and progress and recommend ways to address behavioral issues
  • Helping scholars set and meet behavior goals
  • Keeping detailed notes of scholar progress

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst required
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skill, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills and interpersonal relations
  • Experience with diverse student populations strongly preferred
  • CPI Training preferred
