Job description

  • The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence.
  • The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (Wage) to support the Olympic Sports program.
  • The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for assisting the Associate Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning in the strength training and conditioning of student-athletes as well as the upkeep of the weight room.
  • While working closely with the strength staff, specific duties include but are not limited to: assisting in the daily implementation of training programs as designed by members of the strength staff, set up and breakdown of workouts for student-athletes, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and weight room areas.
  • This position is a wage position intended to provide an internship for those candidates who have completed CSCS or CSCC certification, and/or finished a GA-style position in a collegiate setting.
  • This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year.

Experience

Experience in a weight room setting.

Licensure

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification from the CSCCa. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is performed in the process of providing strength and conditioning coaching to student-athletes in a fitness facility, on sports fields, and in sports stadiums.
