Job description

  • Description Seeking Special Ed Teacher, working in Neshamiy Public School District Interviewing for fall 2026, position starts 08/19/20.
  • DESS partners with child-serving institutions to provide services in early learning, behavioral and mental health treatment, academic interventions, and prevention programming.
  • We also offer direct staff placement, diagnostic evaluations, and consultation services to school districts.

  • Reporting to the Special Education Teacher, among other duties, this position will: Support a Devereux Educational Strategies and Solutions program—specifically special education classroom for autistic support; provides specialized instruction that will result in the achievement of the educational, social, and emotional individualized goals.
  • Includes supporting the implementation and evaluation of a range of direct and support services provided to students in an elementary school autistic support classroom.
  • The position requires knowledge of PDE, IDEA, and chapter 14 regulations, as well as competency in IEPs, positive behavior support strategies, classroom management, and MTSS/PBIS.
  • Establishes a supportive learning environment, evaluates and assesses student progress relative to instructional objectives, provides guidance to support staff, and coordinates delivery of special education services in each student’s IEP.

Schedule

M-F: 8-4pm: This position is aligned with the school calendar and is a full-time role covering a 10-month period and opportunites for extended school year program in summer break. Qualifications

Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field required, Master’s degree in special education preferred. PA Department of Education certification as teacher preferred. At least one year of experience in an educational setting working with individuals with autism and/or other special education populations. Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications, experience with data collection/analyzing platforms. Strong organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Requires ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines. Significant and frequent amounts of walking, standing and lifting of 10 lbs. or more is required. Must be able to present through verbal and written communication, as well as develop visual media. Travel required as needs dictate. Requires repetitive use of wrists/hands/legs, including long periods of time operating office equipment.
