Assistant Teacher
The Assistant Teachers are responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the responsive care of the children, in the implementation of the curriculum, and the completion of daily tasks. Assistant teachers support Divine Savior Academy in its mission of providing excellence in education, rooted in the timeless truths of God’s Word.

Duties
- Provide assistance to classroom teachers as they seek to provide children with a safe, welcoming, and high-quality learning environment appropriate for their age and developmental level
- Respond to children’s needs in all areas, including feeding, diaper changing, toilet training, etc.
- Collaborate with their classroom teachers and the Divine Savior staff as a whole, to support their children and carry out their classroom tasks
- Support the implementation of the planned curriculum and learning experiences
- Ensure that the classroom expectations are being followed consistently
- Follow all classroom and school procedures to ensure the health and safety of all students
- Record observations for child assessment records
- Redirect children’s behavior in order to increase attention and focus
- Support children in their growth and development in all areas: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual
- Lead children in small or large groups
- Engage in appropriate and positive teacher-child interactions in the classroom
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, families, and colleagues
- Contribute to team-building exercises with staff
Requirements
- High School Diploma (Formal College Education Preferable)
- Early Childhood experience preferable
- Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training and successful completion of competency based exams.

- Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 25-50 pounds, sitting for extended periods, and sometimes kneeling or crouching to assist students; lifting, holding, and carrying children
