Position Summary

The Instructional Designer will partner with faculty, staff, and administrators to help design, develop, and implement high-quality online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses that support the business unit's mission to advance excellence in education, research, and practice. This role supports both graduate and undergraduate educational programs, as well as outreach initiatives, and contributes to the continuous improvement of the learning experience across the curriculum. Position Key Accountabilities: Collaborates with faculty to design, develop, and revise engaging and pedagogically sound courses and learning modules for online, hybrid, and in-person delivery. Applies instructional design theories, adult learning principles, and best practices in online education and competency-based learning. Provides faculty development and one-on-one consultations focused on effective online pedagogy, assessment strategies, and accessibility. Ensure all course materials meet accessibility standards. Develops digital learning materials, including rich media content, simulations, and interactive case studies, in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs). Supports faculty in integrating educational technologies into their courses with learning management, video and audio conferencing, streaming video content, plagiarism prevention, online proctoring, course evaluation, and simulation software. Stays current with trends and emerging technologies in instructional design, health professions education, and E-learning. Evaluates and maintains course design templates and documentation for consistent delivery across programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), SharePoint, Teams, and Google tools, preferred. Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Canvas Catalog, or similar platforms) Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (ADA, Section 508) Experience developing digital learning content using eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate) and multimedia applications (e.g., Adobe Suite) Strong understanding of online pedagogy, course design, and assessment strategies Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills Strong organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with faculty and technical staff
  • Minimum
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education or a related field required Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field preferred May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

  • Experience: 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in instructional design or educational technology in higher education required

  • Requirements: Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
