  • Overview The Richardson School is seeking an Physical Education Teacher to join their Cudahy campus!
  • The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing physical education programs and health education designed to meet the unique needs of students within their IEP.
  • The PE teacher works with the Special Education Supervisor in the daily program implementation and coordination.
  • The Richardson School provides an alternative education setting option for local districts to access for children with special needs.
  • Typically, these children have been dually diagnosed with developmental or neurological disabilities and emotional, behavioral or mental health disorders.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Designs achievement-based physical-education programs based on current abilities and needs of students.
  • Modifies instructional strategies, activities, environment and equipment to facilitate an optimum learning experience for the students.
  • Incorporates technology as appropriate.
  • Develops appropriate adapted physical education, relating to IEP goals and objectives.
  • Goals should reflect an integrated understanding of each student’s disability and associated characteristics (physical, cognitive, and affective).
  • Actively attends and participates in IEP meetings as needed.
  • Presents comprehensive motor assessment reports and develops goals.
  • Continually evaluates and assesses student performance in the physical education setting, determines strengths and needs of each student, and incorporates this into overall physical education program.
  • Demonstrates initiative in developing and implementing new programming.
  • Teaches heath and hygiene classes with age-specific content and curriculum.
  • Functions within legal and professional school standards in maintaining a therapeutic and educational environment for students.
  • Ensures learning environment and activities are conducive to student development of academics, independence, competence, and sense of self-worth.
  • Regularly informs SES of lesson planning, motivational instructional programs, changes in schedules or curriculum and Instructional Aide performance, etc.
  • Within timelines, completes all required documentation including lesson plans, Behavior Data Forms, Activity Requisition and Notification Forms, Transition Summaries.
  • To be considered for this job, you must meet the following requirements: Requires Bachelor's Degree in Physical or Adaptive Physical Education from an accredited college or university Requires current, active license in Physical Education (530) issued by the State of WI Department of Public Instruction, with an Adaptive Physical Education license (860) preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals who display needs in the areas of autism, cognitive delays, EBD, mental health, and other related disabilities preferred.
  • WAGES & BENEFITS: Hours: 8-4pm during the regular school year + availability to work some ESY hours Schedule: Monday- Friday, following a traditional school calendar

Salary Range
