Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher is responsible for implementation of lesson plans, learning activities and fostering a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher. The position involves creating a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom atmosphere, maintaining strong communication with school administration, and willingness to work a flexible on-call schedule. Substitute teacher placements can be scheduled in advance, but urgent assignments may require a last minute notification call at 6:00am with request to work from 7:30am - 3:15pm same day, if available.

Job Details

  • Implement lesson plans and manage classroom learning activities in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Responsible for the students’ conduct in the assigned classes
  • Manages the full schedule of the regular teacher, including classroom day, clubs, study halls, yard duty, physical education and any special duties performed by the absent teacher
  • Follow school policies and procedures such as attendance, discipline, rainy day schedule, etc
  • Maintain normal classroom routines and discipline procedures, including taking attendance
  • Communicate to school administration regarding any serious disciplinary issues
  • Prepare adequate notes for the regular teacher upon conclusion the day
  • Establish and maintain a respectful culture of learning in a well-managed classroom
  • Organize and clean at the end of day leaving the classroom neat and tidy
  • Commitment to and support of CCCS mission, vision and values
  • Commitment to abide by the CCCS Employee Handbook

Salary

• Compensation is based on fixed hourly rate up to $200 per day

A background check & TB test clearance is required.
