Position Summary
Cristo Rey San José is seeking a part-time Summer Bridge Instructor to support incoming students during our Summer Bridge program. The instructor will deliver engaging academic instruction, foster a positive classroom environment, and help students build the skills and confidence needed for a successful transition into the Work Study Program. Responsibilities include lesson delivery, classroom management, student support, and collaboration with Summer Bridge staff to ensure a meaningful and supportive summer learning experience. The ideal candidate has teaching experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for working with high school students in a mission-driven educational setting. Reports to: Senior Director of Operations, CWSP SUMMER BRIDGE DATES Professional Development Day on June 18, 2026 Summer Bridge Program Dates: June 22 - July 17, 2026 ESSENTIAL DUTIES Deliver engaging instructional lessons aligned with Summer Bridge program goals. Create a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment for incoming students. Monitor student progress and provide support to help build foundational skills. Maintain effective classroom management and encourage positive student participation. Collaborate with Summer Bridge staff to coordinate activities and address student needs. Communicate regularly regarding student progress and any concerns. Support student transition to high school by reinforcing confidence and work readiness skills. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and program-related responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a credential or degree program in education or a related field. Prior experience working with middle school or high school students in an instructional or youth development setting. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to create an engaging and supportive learning environment for diverse learners. Commitment to the mission and values of Cristo Rey San José. Cristo Rey San Jose alumni preferred. SALARY AND COMPENSATION This is a non-exempt position. Pay at an hourly rate between $20-$25 an hour based on previous experience and education. The position requires approximately 4 hours commitment on teaching days from 11 am - 3 pm, 2-3 days a week. This role is temporary, and part-time and therefore not eligible for benefits.
