Weekend Nanny / Household Assistant $25–$26 per hour Location
Arlington, VA (McLean / Old Dominion area) A professional, warm family is seeking a reliable, proactive Weekend Nanny / Household Assistant to support their children and home on weekends. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing engaged childcare with hands-on household support and feels comfortable stepping in wherever help is needed. The family is looking for someone who is observant, organized, and naturally helpful—someone who can fold laundry while chatting with the kids, assist with meal prep, and meaningfully engage children through play and conversation. This is a collaborative household where teamwork and initiative are highly valued.
About the Children 7-year-old boy
Energetic, confident, and social. Enjoys sports, piano, and staying actively engaged. 5-year-old girl: Sweet, bright, and social. Building independence through reading, problem-solving, and age-appropriate responsibility. 2-year-old boy: Easygoing toddler who enjoys tagging along with siblings and active play; follows a consistent nap schedule.
Responsibilities
Childcare Support Engage children in meaningful, developmentally appropriate play and activities Encourage independence and responsibility aligned with the family’s Montessori-inspired approach Support daily routines and transitions alongside parents or other caregivers Provide attentive, warm supervision while remaining flexible to household needs Household Assistance Laundry (washing, folding, and putting away) Dishes and light kitchen clean-up Vacuuming and general tidying Organizing play spaces and common areas Light meal prep and kitchen support What the Family Values Punctuality & Dependability: Consistency and reliability are essential Teamwork: Comfort working alongside parents and other caregivers; proactive contribution is key Communication: Clear, respectful, and proactive communication is appreciated Teaching Philosophy: Montessori-inspired—encouraging independence, structure, and intrinsic motivation (no reward charts) Transparency: The home uses nanny/security cameras and values openness and trust Schedule & Hours Target: Approximately 15 hours per week (flexible) Typical Weekend Schedule Options: Saturdays: 11:00 AM–8:00 PM or 12:00 PM–9:00 PM (occasionally as late as 11:00 PM) Sundays: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM Occasional Friday night date nights The family is open to alternating schedules to reach the 15-hour weekly goal. Alternate Schedule Option (open for discussion): Morning shifts: 6:30 AM–9:30 AM, Monday–Friday Plus one weekend morning shift: 7:00 AM–10:00 AM (Saturday or Sunday) Two days off per week When working concurrently with the family’s au pair, the role will focus more heavily on household support and organization. When the au pair is not working, this position will take the lead with childcare.
