  • Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview The Baker School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time faculty position. Rank will be determined based on the candidate's academic preparation, teaching experience, clinical expertise, and scholarly accomplishments. Instructor → Assistant Professor → Associate Professor → Professor. Faculty members contribute to the School's mission by providing high‑quality classroom and clinical instruction, academic advising, and participation in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and service to the School, University, profession, and community. This position is ideal for candidates who desire to teach in a collaborative academic environment and are committed to excellence in nursing education, professional development, and evidence-based practice. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required or Master's Degree of Science in Nursing (MSN) for Instructor or Assistant Professor Required or Doctorate EdD, DNP or PhD for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor Required Experience Qualifications 2 years Clinical experience and either a BSN or MSN required for Instructor. Required or 3 years College teaching or equivalent relevant teaching experience and MSN or higher degree required for Assistant Professor. Required or 5 years Recent full time college teaching or 3 years at the rank of Assistant Professor and a Doctorate degree required for Associate Professor. Required or 10 years Recent full time college teaching or 5 years at the rank of Associate Professor and a Doctorate degree required for Professor. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated teaching effectiveness ability. Demonstrated growth in scholarly activity ability. Demonstrated leadership in academic and professional and/or community organizations. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse - KSBN Unencumbered License Required Certified Nurse Educator - NLN - Magnet Other specialty certifications may also be accepted. Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire What you will do Teaching & Instruction Deliver high-quality classroom, lab, and/or clinical instruction. Prepare course materials, develop learning activities, and evaluate student performance. Use evidence‑based teaching strategies and technology to promote student learning. Supervise students in clinical and practicum experiences. Curriculum & Program Contributions *Participate in curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation. *Assist with accreditation processes and documentation as needed. *Develop or revise course content based on current best practices. Advising & Mentorship *Provide academic advising and career guidance to students. *Mentor junior faculty (for advanced ranks). *Serve as a resource and consultant to colleagues based on expertise. Scholarship & Professional Development *Engage in scholarly activities appropriate to rank (e.g., presentations, publications, research, evidence‑based practice initiatives). *Maintain professional certifications and continue personal development in areas of clinical and teaching expertise. Service *Participate in School of Nursing and University committees. *Contribute to professional and community service initiatives. *Represent the School in local, regional, or national forums (increasing levels of leadership at higher ranks). Travel Requirements 5% For clinical sites and capstone or travel for presentations. Requirements
