About the role

The contractor will provide academic support and specialized intervention services for students with diverse needs, including the development of IEPs and ETRs. They are responsible for managing testing needs, monitoring student progress, and incorporating life skills education into the curriculum.

  • Overview: The Intervention Specialist Contractor will provide contracted academic support, manage scholars’ testing needs, maintain documentation of course completion, and develop activities and opportunities for life skills growth. The contractor will coordinate with students, parents/guardians, and school personnel, as appropriate, to support the delivery of high-quality educational services during the contract term.

Develop and implement individualized learning plans and intervention supports for students with diverse needs, as assigned. Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to engage learners and promote academic growth. Monitor student progress, document performance, and provide timely feedback and additional support as needed. 2.

Analyze assessment results to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted intervention strategies. Coordinate with school personnel to align testing practices and support consistent evaluation of student progress. 3.

  • Services: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and grades. Prepare progress reports and other required documentation in a timely manner. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding scholar progress and areas for improvement. Participate in student support meetings and parent/guardian conferences, as requested, to discuss academic performance and growth opportunities. 4.

  • Scholars: Incorporate life skills education into the curriculum to promote holistic development. Design and facilitate activities that enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills. Collaborate with community organizations to provide real-world experiences and opportunities for skill-building. Support a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect, empathy, and personal growth. 5. Specialized Intervention and Compliance Services Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Perform individual assessments to accompany evaluation team reports (ETRs). Ensure accuracy and completeness of all special education documents including (but not limited to) Attempts to Obtain Parent Participation, Referral forms to special education, Prior Written Notices, Parent Invite, appropriate signatures, SDI documentation, and Progress Reporting. Assess and monitor students’ progress, including academic, social, and behavioral development, as required for service delivery and compliance. Adapt instructional materials and techniques to accommodate students' learning styles and abilities. Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, life skills, and social skills. Coordinate with general education teachers and other support personnel to support the inclusion and integration of students with disabilities, as appropriate. Utilize assistive technology and other resources to enhance student learning and independence (i.e. Outlook calendar, Microsoft Teams, Samegoal). Maintain accurate and current records of students’ IEPs, progress, interventions, and related special education documentation. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on students' progress and address any concerns or questions. Coordinate with related service providers and other professionals, as needed, to support delivery of services to students. Attend IEP meetings, ETR meetings, parent/guardian conferences, and other student-specific meetings as requested and relevant to contracted services.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field required. Valid state licensure or certification appropriate to intervention specialist or special education services required. Demonstrated experience providing special education, intervention, or instructional support services, preferably in a K-12 setting. Strong knowledge of the subject area curriculum and strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with scholars, parents/guardians, school personnel, and service partners. Ability to support structured learning environments and implement strategies that foster student engagement and inclusion. Proficiency in using instructional technology and software applications relevant to contracted services. Understanding of assessment principles and ability to analyze student performance data for instructional planning. Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively plan services, complete documentation, and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain all required credentials, clearances, and documentation necessary to perform contracted services. Innovative Thinker Flexible (Ability to PIVOT) Ability to provide services on a schedule aligned to student and program needs, not to exceed 40 hours per week during the 200-day contract term. Excellent Quality of Outcomes (Meeting Deadline, Accountability, Follow up/ Follow through) Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.? Excellent organizational and time-management skills.? Cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt strategies to meet unique needs.? Contract Terms: This position is structured as an independent contractor engagement. Specific duties, schedule, invoicing requirements, and any additional contractual conditions shall be governed by the contractor agreement approved by the organization.
