Position Summary

Holy Rosary Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, dedicated, and knowledgeable Second Grade Teacher who is committed to academic excellence and the spiritual, emotional, and social development of young learners. The teacher will foster a nurturing Catholic classroom environment that supports the mission of the school and encourages students to grow in faith, character, and academic achievement.

The ideal candidate will create engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards while integrating Catholic values and traditions throughout the school day.

Duties and Responsibilities: Reports to Principal

  • Instruction and Curriculum
  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction in all core subject areas including Religion, Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, instructional materials, and technology tools to support student learning.
  • Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Communicate student progress effectively with parents and administration.
  • Maintain lesson plans and classroom documentation in accordance with school expectations.
  • Catholic Identity and Faith Formation
  • Support and uphold the mission and philosophy of Catholic education.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings and values into daily instruction and classroom culture.
  • Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and religious activities.
  • Model Christian behavior and maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment.
  • Classroom Management
  • Establish and maintain clear classroom procedures and expectations.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Encourage positive behavior, responsibility, and respect among students.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures regarding discipline and student supervision.
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support school initiatives and student success.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Work cooperatively with support staff, specialists, and volunteers.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise students during assigned duties including carpool, lunch, recess, and special events.
  • Participate in school activities, committees, and community-building events.
  • Support the overall mission and goals of Holy Rosary Catholic School.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • Valid Tennessee teaching license or ability to obtain licensure preferred.
  • Elementary teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred, but all qualified candidates supportive of the Catholic mission are encouraged to apply.
