Job Summary
Responsible to the Director of Academic Technology Services for supporting the development of online courses and programs across the institution. This position works with faculty, departments, and schools to implement effective learning strategies and ensure technology integration in both synchronous and asynchronous courses. Responsibilities include consulting with prospective and current online faculty, designing and developing instructional materials, maintaining course data, generating reports, and providing ongoing instructional design support to enhance the online learning experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of course development in a learning management system.
- Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design, development, and delivery of online courses, including instructional methods, materials, and assessment strategies.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and concepts.
- Knowledge of common computer hardware and software used to build web-based instructional content.
- Knowledge of digital media tools and their application in online learning environments.
- Ability to consult with faculty to recommend instructional delivery options and identify appropriate course content.
- Ability to evaluate emerging online or technology-assisted educational tools and make recommendations for adoption.
- Ability to manage course development projects from inception to completion.
- Ability to assist faculty in the maintenance and redesign of existing online courses.
- Ability to design, develop, and evaluate instructional training materials.
- Ability to understand instructional and technical processes, products, or concepts and communicate them effectively to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty using a variety of approaches to teaching and learning.
- Ability to work with people of varied technological skills.
- Ability to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to apply rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
- Ability to implement digital media in the online environment.

- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Two years of work-related experience required.
- Experience designing instruction for online learning environments required.
- Experience working with HTML or related web technologies required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in higher education preferred.
- Experience in teaching or training adult learners and online teaching preferred.
- Experience with academic course management systems such as Brightspace by D2L, Blackboard, or Canvas preferred.
