Position Description St. Mark’s School of Texas is seeking an experienced Extended Day Assistant beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Extended Day Assistants are expected to create a safe and loving environment for children after the school day. Extended Day Assistants in our Extended Day Program (EDP) must be able to supervise play and engage children from first grade through fourth grade in age-appropriate activities.

Responsibilities Provide children with a snack each afternoon Maintain a calm and productive work environment in which children are able to complete homework Engage with children and redirect them if necessary Help prepare activities as necessary Assist in cleaning up and organizing room after activities, if needed, in various play environments Greet parents as they pick up their child in a friendly and professional manner Performs other related duties as assigned Experience, Qualifications & Skills Prior experience with children is preferred Provide consistent guidance and redirection Adhere to and enforce discipline policies of the school Provide a loving, healthy, and safe environment for children Demonstrate patience when interacting with children, parents, and colleagues Communicate effectively and professionally with program directors Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. EDP staff must be willing to work with all age groups, grades one through four Work schedules will be determined by staffing needs. Please note that the Extended Day Program is not offered on non-regular school days.
