Job description
SUMMARY
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who works under the direct supervision of a BCBA. RBT will serve as a dual job for those already employed by the Bradley School, typically those in the role of a Classroom Behavior Specialist. Responsibilities
- Implements individualized behavior intervention plans, behavior support plans, skills acquisition programs, and classroom/school-wide behavioral programs. Consistently implement plans with fidelity (under BCBAs direction) and prepares program materials which could include both academic and behavioral stimuli.Treatment protocols may include a wide variety of domains such as toilet training or other activities of daily living (ADLs), communication, social, sensory, educational, behavioral, and/or medical.Collects skill acquisition and behavior reduction data utilizing a variety of data collection methods. May also collect data on acquisition of behavioral chains and shaping programs. Displays/organizes data collected using Excel by inputting data, making spreadsheets, and graphing. Follows the behavioral standards for visual display of data.
- Accepts feedback appropriately and applies feedback and training on ABA job performance given by the BCBA. Provides behavior support inside and outside of the classroom when applicable which could include during arrival/dismissal, transitions, playground, academics, etc. Provides direct 1:1 therapy service when appropriate including collecting data for PCA logs and submitting monthly per the district requirements. RBTs also collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including clinicians, BCBAs, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educators. Attends and participates in staff or team meetings as requested by BCBA/supervisor. Expected and required to report to BCBA or Supervisor any client incidences/variances or complaints. Must have 5% supervision by BCBA monthly. Supervision will occur before or after arrival/dismissal. RBT is responsible for obtaining documentation/proof of supervision needed to maintain certification as an RBT. Must abide by the RBT Ethics Code MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications: The RBT will be an employee in good standing in another role in the organization (e.g., Classroom Behavior Specialist) and will have completed the coursework (40 hour RBT training course) and other requirements (competency assessment with onsite BCBA, application to BACB, RBT exam) outlined by the BACB to become an RBT. Once obtained, RBT certification must be maintained yearly by completing maintenance requirements outlined by the BACB. The RBT will be proficient in the use of Excel.
Supervision
The RBT will report to the BCBA for work done as an RBT. Duties outside the scope of administering RBT tasks (i.e., tasks done as a Classroom Behavior Specialist) will be supervised by the Behavioral Coordinator.
Limitations
- RBTs may not work independently of a BCBA supervisor. No independent assessment or treatment activities are permitted without the knowledge and direction of the BCBA supervisor.
