Compensation

• This is a fully legal, on-the-books household employee position. The family will provide a W-2 and comply with all applicable federal, New York State, and household employment laws. The position is structured around a guaranteed 40-hour workweek (Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM). While compensation is offered as an annual salary of $75,000–$85,000, the role will also have an equivalent hourly rate in compliance with household employment and wage laws.
• Approximate hourly equivalent: $75,000/year = approximately $36.06/hour $85,000/year = approximately $40.87/hour Any hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek will be compensated at the applicable overtime rate in accordance with federal and New York labor laws.

This role is ideal for someone who genuinely loves exploring New York City with children and can independently create engaging, enriching afternoons filled with outdoor adventures, museum visits, library trips, playdates, and creative activities. The family is looking for a candidate who can confidently take ownership of the child’s schedule and experiences while also maintaining a well-run household during school hours. Key Responsibilities Childcare Responsibilities School pickup at approximately 3:00 PM Plan and coordinate engaging after-school activities and outings throughout NYC Encourage active, screen-free, curiosity-driven experiences Coordinate playdates, extracurriculars, and enrichment opportunities Assist with homework and evening routines as needed Prepare healthy meals/snacks for the child Foster independence, creativity, and confidence Household Management Responsibilities General household tidying and organization Family laundry and linen care Grocery shopping and household errands Meal prep for the child/family as needed Maintain overall cleanliness and household flow Daily walks and care for the family’s dog Additional Details No driving required Transportation via walking, subway, bus, and occasional Uber Some schedule flexibility preferred Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is: Experienced with school-age children Independent, proactive, and highly organized Comfortable navigating New York City via walking, subway, and public transportation Energetic and genuinely enjoys spending time outdoors A strong planner who can independently coordinate activities and schedules Comfortable with dogs and daily pet care responsibilities A confident cook and household multitasker Warm, engaging, and dependable Family values curiosity, independence, outdoor exploration, and active engagement with city life

Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years of recent professional nanny experience Prior experience caring for school-age children in private homes Verifiable long-term references from previous employers, preferably NYC-based families Strong household management and organizational skills Comfortable managing both childcare and household support responsibilities independently CPR and First Aid Certification (current or willing to renew prior to start date) Legally authorized to work in the United States Fully vaccinated Valid government-issued identification Willingness to complete a comprehensive background check, reference checks, and payroll onboarding Excellent communication skills and professionalism Reliable, punctual, and dependable Non-smoker Comfortable with large dogs and daily pet care responsibilities Physically active and comfortable navigating New York City via walking and public transportation Strong judgment, initiative, and ability to independently plan engaging activities and outings Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism within a private household
