Physical Education Teacher

• Strive Charter School, a new elementary school in the South Bronx, is hiring full-time Physical Education Teachers.
• This is a hands-on role working with younger elementary school students during the school day and in our after-school, weekend, and summer programs.
• Coaches will help students learn basic skills, play organized games, stay active, and develop teamwork, confidence, and good sportsmanship.
• The job begins on August 10.
• We are located in the South Bronx, two blocks from the Cypress Avenue stop on the #6 train.

Requirements

You do not need a college degree. We value hands-on experience working with children. Specifically we are looking for candidates who have experience and enjoy working with younger students (kindergarten). Strong candidates will have experience coaching, supervising, teaching, or leading groups of children. We are looking for people who are energetic, reliable, patient, and good at keeping children engaged and safe. Experience with basketball or soccer is strongly preferred. Spanish is a plus.

Compensation/Benefits Salary

• $60,000 per year (including overtime)
• Schedule: 50 hours per week Generous benefits including health insurance Year round position with 5 weeks of paid time off per year Full-time position with consistent hours If you have children who will be in kindergarten through 4th grade, they can attend our school. Students who are 4 years old can attend kindergarten.
