Torah Academy is hiring dedicated, creative, and warm middle school teachers for both humanities and STEM positions. These roles are ideal for a current graduate student, someone interested in exploring becoming a teacher, or a recently retired teacher who isn’t quite ready to leave it all behind! Options exist for full time employment for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

include Create a warm, caring, and safe environment Students are at the heart of what we do. When they know that they are cared for, students come ready to learn. This includes building nurturing relationships with students and providing age-appropriate levels of student supervision, classroom rules, and routines.

Create and implement lesson plans You will be responsible for teaching either ELA and Social Studies or Math and Science to middle school boys. Our curriculum is aligned with Massachusetts state standards. Your creativity will shine in the activities you plan to engage student interest in the content as you build their academic skills and content knowledge.

Monitor and communicate student progress Provide feedback to students and their families on academic, social, and behavioral progress. Maintain appropriate records. Create two-way communication channels with families so they are updated on their child’s progress.

Other responsibilities As assigned by the Head of School.

What we’re looking for in you Prior successful experience with middle school students. Background in the appropriate academic area. A strong commitment to practicing differentiated instruction. Passionate about educating children. Creative and think outside the box when it comes to challenging young minds.

Torah Academy is located in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Hours

  • Mondays-Thursdays 1:00-5:00 p.m.,
  • Fridays 12:00-1:30/2:30 p.m.

Salary: $24,000-$32,000 per year, commensurate with experience

About Torah Academy Torah Academy is a preK-8 school that has been in the Boston area for 40 years. We foster a supportive professional environment, including extensive professional development, growth, and advancement opportunities. Our students spend the mornings studying and celebrating Kodesh, including Hebrew, Torah, and Jewish laws and customs. In the afternoons students engage in general studies according to their grade level. Because of the intense nature of the morning curriculum our students are pretty sophisticated in their thinking. We are seeking general studies teachers to match that level of rigor in their content areas. Our general studies curriculum is modeled after the public school frameworks, so familiarity with grade level secular academic expectations is a big plus. Torah Academy contains a boys division and a girls division; students are separated by gender starting in first grade.

Requirements

Candidates should have prior experience with middle school students and a background in the relevant academic subject area. A commitment to differentiated instruction and a passion for creative education are required.
