Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. Work Hours: Day, evening and/or Saturday classes. Specifically hiring for evening and Saturday day virtual, synchronous classes
Job Description
Program Operations: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook Submits requested information within established timelines Maintain student office hours outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program chair to resolve issues Instruction: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, Microsoft 365, Google Office Suite, Book Publisher etc. as appropriate. Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned. Required Qualifications: Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction, faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM Number 7.1 as applicable to the specific area of instruction. A qualified faculty member in human services meets all three of the following criteria: 1) Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in a human services field (social work, human services and counseling, addiction counseling, public health (community health, education), counseling psychology). 2) Completed academic preparation appropriate to the program; and 3) Has one of the following: Professional certification or licensure in the field; or 2 years of directly post-master’s degree related work experience. Professional knowledge and experience skills in the following areas: Prior experience teaching at a community college and experience with internship/externship courses. (minimum two years) Minimum of 2 years mental health and substance use disorder clinical experience Minimum of 2 years case management, client care coordination experience Public health frameworks and advocacy Experience with learning management systems, preferably Canvas Experience teaching human services courses with synchronous components
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with online or hybrid teaching environments Record of scholarship, research, or clinical practice beyond minimum requirements Experience in developing and maintaining internship partnerships Licensure/Certification: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC), Licensed Clinical Addiction and Drug Counselor (LCADC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Attach a cover letter, resume, and 3 references (names, address, phone number, email address).
