About the role

The adjunct instructor is responsible for delivering effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi to help students reach their goals. Key duties include maintaining attendance and grading records, utilizing educational technology, and providing student support outside of class.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis.

The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the school.

PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.

Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.

Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.

Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS: Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.

Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).

Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.

In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.

Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in an information technology field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in one or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the information technology field Two years of professional employment in the information technology field Documentation of research and publication in the field Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.

Possesses an earned out-of-field bachelor’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following: Professional certification (national, regional, or state) in the cybersecurity/information assurance field Four years of professional employment in the cybersecurity/information assurance field Documentation of research and publication in the cybersecurity/information assurance field Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU’s, vendor, or military.

Other Requirements (dependent upon program and classes): Any one or more certifications from the following list: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CASP, CEH, GIAC Security Essentials, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Linux+, CWNP’s Certified Wireless Network Administration certification, CWNP’s Certified Wireless Network Professional certification, or is a current Cisco Academy Instructor with the Wireless course qualifications, Cisco CCNA or higher. *All Applications must include a Cover Letter and an Unofficial Transcript *Pay Rate: $45.50 Per Contact Hour Must demonstrate ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
