  • JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates a positive milieu in the clinical and campus laboratory and the nursing program that fosters student learning and development.
  • Evaluates student learning outcomes in various units of clinical instruction.
  • Evaluates student clinical performance in accordance with established standards defined by the course faculty and the school.
  • Establishes positive faculty-student relationships with effective communications in formal and informal contacts.
  • Assumes clinical teaching assignment workload per nursing program policy.
  • Utilizes current clinical nursing research applicable to area of teaching.
  • Participates in activities promoting the nursing program and school.
  • Serves as a professional role model for students and staff.
  • Supports a learning community within the nursing program.
  • Implements the program philosophy, conceptual framework, and instructional plan to insure integrity of the curriculum.
  • PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Clinical instruction may require walking up to six hours per day and potentially two hours consecutively and may require standing for one hour.
  • Continuously expected to use fingers and hands, handle items and carry up to ten pounds.
  • Frequently expected to climb stairs or ladder, reach above shoulder level, lift, push, or carry up to ten pounds.
  • Occasionally required to firmly grasp objects, be able to maintain squat or crouch position, or lift or push up to 100 pounds; rarely required to twist and turn fingers and hands; or carry greater than 10 pounds.
  • Sensory requirements include touching and perceiving attributes of objects; hearing as it relates to normal conversation, high and low frequencies; general vision, near and far, color, peripheral vision and depth perception, and adequate olfactory function.
  • EDUCATION: Master's Degree in area of nursing specialization preferred.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required, with a plan for obtaining a graduate degree in nursing within 5 years of initial appointment.
  • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years RN clinical experience in area of master’s degree specialization.
  • Demonstrated competence as a professional nurse in full time recent practice.
  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness as a clinician.
  • Utilization of clinical research findings in nursing practice.
  • Training in computer programs including Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
